I've built the most popular websites and written the best selling courses in the home business industry. Over 109,000 web pages and videos have been posted about me online by other people. This is the only one written by me. It's about my life, my crazy adventures, and my diabolical plans to change the world...
So as many of you know, I ordered an Aston Martin DBS about 6 months ago. Well it finally arrived from England after being hand built, one piece at a time.
Unfortunately the credit crisis hit, and no matter how your credit is, they’re just not giving out $275,000 car loans these days. We tried to make it happen for over a month, but they wanted $100,000 down. Screeeeeew that.
So I drove past the Audi dealership in Austin and test drove the new R8. Half the price of the DBS, and almost equal performance.
After getting rear ended on Christmas Eve, I decided I needed some new wheels, so I traded in the Vantage and picked up my new baby…
I’m thoroughly stuffed with Thanksgiving goodness, and thought I’d send you a few pics from the Baja 1000 race we participated in last week.
In case you’re not familiar with the Baja 1000, it’s the longest, most dangerous off-road race in the world, 1000 miles up and down the Baja peninsula.
This year marked the 41st running, and our car was joined by over 350 others from around the world. It’s the ultimate test of endurance, survival, and competition - and I loved every minute of it.
Here’s a picture of our team while we waited for our police escort to the starting line… From left to right: Craig Allen, Jay Kubassek, Tim Erway, and Mike Dillard.
The race starts out in Ensenada, and winds its way through the city which is filled with 1,000’s of people who drive in from all over Mexico to watch.
So I just got back to LA after a four day trip to Chicago.
Eben Pagan decided to hold an invitation only event for 100 of the brightest in the Internet marketing world, and I was lucky enough to make the list. Crazy times ensued… Wired’s Next Fest, drinks at a billionaire’s pad, House of Blues, credit card roulette, and the meanest hot dog lady I’ve ever met.. (She screams profanities at you and makes you do push-ups before you get your food. Seriously).
Check out the video to for a guided tour of the madness…
So we’ve started getting ready for the Baja 1000 in November… The longest and most dangerous off-road race in the world.
The fire suits and helmets have been ordered, the car is being skinned, and Chuck is taking care of accommodations.
Drivers: Mike Dillard, Jay Kubassek, Tim Erway, Craig Allen.
So it’s a rare occasion… I’m sitting here poking around the net at midnight while watching a special on John McCain which was preceded by a special on Barack Obama. Now just for the record, I’m neither a Republican or a Democrat. If anything, I’m a Libertarian and if I had my choice, I’d be voting for Ron Paul.
Yet as I sit here on my couch, I’m utterly shocked by what I’ve seen tonight… Obama’s special positioned him as a golden boy who’s destined to change the world. McCain has been portrayed as the cheater, the liar, and an opportunist. His wife, as a drug addict and a thief.
Well it’s been a long, but adventure filled week here in Aspen with the Maverick Business Adventures crew… From having dinner with Lance Armstrong, to white-water rafting the Arkansas, to networking with some of the biggest names in the online marketing world… It was definitely a trip to remember, and I count myself as blessed to have such amazing opportunities.
So I’m just chillin at Nobu’s sushi joint in Aspen last night when Lance Armstrong walks in with two friends.
John runs Six Lounge in Austin which is one of my favorite bars with an incredible view, and Dave manages Campo which is by-far the best food I’ve had while in Aspen.
For those of you who don’t know, I raced mountain bikes professionally years ago, and competed with Lance a few times in the Texas series during the summers.
Just about a year ago, we launched the MagneticSponsoring.com social community. It’s been quite an interesting little experiment. (That’s the code word for EXPENSIVE)
Turns out that we chose the wrong programming language the first time round (Joomla), and we quickly exceeded it’s ability to keep up with our traffic and desired features within the first 30 days.
As I look ahead into the next 12 months, I have to admit that I’m intimidated. The opportunities in front of me will demand that I push myself to an entirely new level personally, and in business.
Here’s my insane schedule…
I’m in Aspen for the next few weeks for a little adventure trip with Yanik Silver and our Maverick Business Adventures Group.
The “MBA” Group consists of about 20 successful entrepreneurs from various industries (not just internet marketing), and every 3 months, we get together for some kind of crazy adventure trip.
First round was Baja racing with Jesse James from West Coast Choppers. Second round was a Zero Gravity Flight with Tony Hawk, and this time we’re in Aspen for a little white-water rafting, mountain climbing, off-roading, and downhill mountain biking during the day.
Evenings are usually spent conspiring how to take over the world over a few bottles of Yanik’s favorite wines… or tequila shots. (Same thing in my book
As soon as our Aspen trip comes to and end, I’m driving out to LA, where I’ll be holed up with Jimmy Davis and tortured daily by the experts at the Theiss Institute.
The Theiss Institute is where alot of the movies stars go to get into shape for an action role, FAST. You show up on Day 1, and they put you through a bunch of tests like a lab rat to find out where your body’s at, how it burns fuel, and where you want to be.
Over the next 60 days, you’re scientifically transformed into a new person, achieving peak physical conditioning. 6 custom organic meals are prepared just for you, and show up at your door every single morning. This kind of controlled diet, along with an insane workout routine, allows you to achieve results that would normally take a year, in just two months.
I can’t wait… As many of you know I use to race mountain bikes professionally years ago, and still hold that kind of self-image… Of being in perfect shape and able to crank out 60 miles a day.
The fact that I have to move all the way to LA for this is an integral piece of the puzzle. If you want to make drastic changes/improvements in your life, you have to put yourself in a new environment… You have to get away from the same people, places, foods, hobbies, and routines in order to break your habits and form new ones.
Thanks to this routine change, I predict that I’ll get more business done during those two months, than I have all year.
(Just in case you missed it… You have to change your environment and your routine to achieve break-through results)
On September 5th, I’ll be flying back down to Austin to spend a day out on the house boat with our fellow Guru Master Mind Members, then it’s back to LA until November.
What comes next on November 20th is going to be the the ultimate adventure… The ultimate test of endurance… The ultimate test of survival…
There’s nothing like starting a personal blog… Your first post is like writing the first line to a book that could take a lifetime to finish. Despite the fact that you’re the main character and the author, the end is still unknown. And I guess you could say that’s my goal with MikeDillard.net. I intend to live the best life I possibly can, and to make some kind of positive impact on the world. If I can pass along my lessons learned to you in the process, then I will right here on these pages. I hope you find your time here well spent, and value in these words. Mike
